Overview of BMW Electric Vehicles

BMW was founded in 1916. They announced their first electric vehicle initiative 93 years later in 2009 with the "i concept." Since then, BMW has gone on to produce two models: the first vehicle, hitting the market in 2013/2014: the i3 (BEV), and the i8 (PHEV). Today, they're still producing the i3, and just recently decided to end producing the i8. They have a whole slew of electric vehicles that are coming to the market in the next couple of years.

BMW Current Electric Models

BMW has two models released and currently for sale: the i3 which is a pure bread BEV, and the i8, which is a plug in hybrid. Both BMW electric vehicles are currently on the market and available for sale. You can find used i3's here.

What Sort Of Range Can You Get With BMW EVs?

The i3 has a range of 153 miles today. The i8, which is a hybrid, runs both fuel and electric - has a range of 18 miles on electric only, and 320 total with its fuel tank.

How Much Do BMW Electric Cars Cost?

New BMW i3's will cost $40-50k depending on trim and options. You can get great deals on used i3's - some even under $10k. The new BMW i8 price tag begins at ~$147,500.

What Electric Vehicles is BMW planning for the future?

As it stands today, we know the ix3 is slated to be released by the end of 2020, and the upcoming i4 and the iNext models are both planned to come to market in 2021.
